El Resuelve $500 mini grants and El Serrucho grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded for the time and amount allowed by our current emergency fundraising efforts. Both grants are open to cultural workers from all disciplines.

We will accept applications through an open, on-going call for El Resuelve grant until January 19, 2018. There will be 10 selection rounds, every Friday until January 19th.

We will accept applications for El Serrucho until January 8th and a selection committee will evaluate the applications and assign the grants. The committee will include one co-director, one co-founder and one board member of Beta-Local, as well as 4 local cultural workers.

The next selection round for El Serrucho is January 24th. We will consider all applications received by January 8th so that the committee has time to evaluate them. A final selection round will be programmed afterwards in which only applications that have been left pending from previous rounds will be considered.

How to apply:

Draft a letter one or two pages in length defining your needs and/or ideas. Describe who you are, what you’ve done previously, what you’re currently doing and what you want to do with the grant. What do you need to give continuity to your practice and projects?

Include documentation (if possible) of prior work or projects, what you are currently working on or the damages you suffered (if that is the case.) Specify in the letter how much money you need, how much money you are requesting from El Serrucho, and how much you can raise through other means (if applicable). Include a general budget. It’s important that El Serrucho represent a significant contribution, if this is not the case then you should have identified additional funds.

Selected proposals will receive a disbursement of 90% of the funds granted and the remaining 10% shall be disbursed once a final report describing the use of the grant is submitted to Beta-Local. The grantee should establish the time needed to submit a final report, which shouldn’t be over 9 months after the grant is awarded. In case of long-term projects, Beta-Local can request a progress report. The final report will be a letter describing how the funds were used. It should be accompanied by photographic documentation of the activities, repairs, equipment purchased and/or the projects that were accomplished.

All of these documents should be sent in an email to info.betalocal@gmail.com.
