EL SERRUCHO

Ada Bobonis – La artista visual y educadora utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales y adquirir materiales y equipo que le permitan continuar su práctica artística.

Alfredo Richner – El diseñador y fundador de la plataforma Puerto Rico Indie utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos y continuar produciendo este portal de noticias acerca de la escena cultural independiente, así como otros proyectos y eventos ligados a la misma.

Ana Rosa Rivera – La artista visual utilizará la beca para conectar su taller a energía solar, así como adquirir equipo y alquilar maquinaria que le permita aprovechar árboles tumbados por el huracán para la producción de su próximo cuerpo de trabajo.

Aravind Adyanthaya – El artista visual, dramaturgo y director de teatro utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos y para adquirir equipo y materiales necesarios para su primera exhibición individual de libros de artista y grabados en Casa Cruz de la Luna en San Germán, donde estará en residencia mientras rehabilita su espacio de taller y residencia en Lajas.

Awilda Rodríguez Lora – La performera, bailarina y gestora cultural utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Awilda Sterling – La artista multidisciplinaria utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Brigada PDT – El proyecto cultural comunitario establecido desde 2015 en Puerta de Tierra utilizará la beca para hacer mejoras a la infraestructura de Plaza Vivero, un espacio rescatado que integra un herbolario, anfiteatro y espacio para reuniones y talleres que integran arte, educación ambiental y planificación participativa para el desarrollo social de la comunidad. 

Charles Juhazs-Alvarado – El escultor, educador y co-fundador de Casa de los Contrafuertes utilizará la beca para reemplazar equipo y materiales perdidos, así como hacer reparaciones a su taller en San Juan.

Chemi Rosado Seijo – El artista vegabajeño utilizará la beca para la reconstrucción del techo del Centro Comunitario Ivette Serrano Hernández en la comunidad de El Cerro en Naranjito, donde lleva trabajando junto a residentes y voluntarios en una serie de proyectos y talleres culturales desde 2002. 

Daniel Lind Ramos – El artista plástico y educador utilizará la beca para hacer reparaciones a su espacio de taller en Loíza, así como continuar habilitando un espacio aledaño donde establecerá un proyecto de arte y acción social que servirá de centro cultural para la comunidad de Colobó.

Deborah Hunt – La artista y maestra en máscaras y títeres desarrollará el proyecto Cajas mágicas para tiempos de persistencia, donde trabajará junto a otros 6 artistas en la confección de una serie de cajas lambe o “peep-shows” para hacer presentaciones de obras cortas en plazas, comedores sociales, escuelas y otros.

Eduardo Alegría – El cantautor y artista escénico que lidera la banda Alegría Rampante utilizará la beca para sufragar gastos personales, luego de la pérdida de su empleo e ingresos derivados de su trabajo artístico, y poder dedicarse a completar la producción de su segundo disco con esta agrupación.

El Almacén – El taller, que se ha ampliado a un centro de recursos, comedor y espacio comunitario luego del huracán, utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos operacionales, adquirir materiales y equipo para hacer reparaciones al espacio y continuar con su programación de talleres abiertos al público y relacionados con la energía renovable, la autosuficiencia y la autofabricación.

El Lobi – El espacio de arte independiente co-dirigido por Vanessa Hernández y Melissa Sarthou utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos operacionales y hacer reparaciones a la infraestructura del espacio, así como para adquirir una cisterna de agua y equipo para su futura programación.

Enityaset Rodríguez – La curadora, educadora y co-directora del espacio de arte independiente Diagonal en Santurce utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Freddie Mercado – El artista plástico y educador utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos médicos y personales ante la pérdida de ingresos, hacer reparaciones al techo de su casa/taller en Carolina, remplazar equipo y materiales, entre otras necesidades.

Guarionex Morales Matos – El compositor y arreglista, fundador del Orfeón San Juan Bautista, utilizará la beca para sufragar parte de los costos de producción y representación de una ópera de cámara queer que propone una ruptura con las estéticas y valores de las épocas histórico-musicales Clásica y Romántica, a favor de una mirada contemporánea con perspectiva de género.

Héctor “Tito” Matos – El percusionista y promotor de la bomba y la plena utilizará la beca para reparar y reponer instrumentos y equipo de sonido, almacenar equipo que se salvó y continuar ofreciendo talleres musicales gratuitos en distintas partes de la isla.

Ivelisse jiménez – La artista visual y educadora utilizará la beca para reconstruir su taller en Cupey Bajo, así como para remplazar equipo y materiales de trabajo.

Jean P Crespo – El performero, bailarín y actor utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales mientras comienza a trabajar con la compañía de danza inclusiva Axis en California, con el compromiso de regresar a Puerto Rico a compartir los conocimientos que adquiera.

Jeanne d’Arc Simone Casas – La bailarina y coreógrafa utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales relacionados a la pérdida de ingresos y daños a su hogar causados por la tormenta.

Jerome Zayas – El gestor cultural utilizará la beca para habilitar un vehículo que lleve materiales de siembra, recolección y purificación de agua, cocina e intervenciones públicas entre iniciativas agroecológicas en el casco histórico de San Juan, La Perla y Puerta de Tierra.

John Betancourt – El fotógrafo utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales y médicos ante la pérdida de ingresos.

José “Fofé” Abreu – El cantante, compositor y frontman de rock utilizará la beca para remplazar y adquirir equipo de trabajo, así como hacer reparaciones a su vivienda y remplazar muebles y electrodomésticos.

Juan Antonio Arroyo – El músico, arreglista y compositor utilizará la beca para establecer un estudio de grabación portátil que le permita desarrollar el proyecto Estudio Nómada, en colaboración con etnomusicólogos y artistas diversos.

Juan López Bauzá – El escritor utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos mientras completa su cuarta novela.

Kairiana Núñez – La actriz y educadora utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales y médicos ante la pérdida de ingresos a la vez que continúa la investigación, desarrollo y producción de varios proyectos escénicos.

La Azotea – La compañía de teatro dirigida por Alejandra Ramos Riera y Heriberto Feliciano Rodríguez utilizará la beca para remplazar equipo de trabajo, así como cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Lazum – El proyecto multidisciplinario establecido en Vieques por Rumi Humphrey y Lena Galíndez utilizará la beca para reconstruir su espacio de taller, adquirir equipo para ampliar su capacidad de energía solar, una cisterna de agua y herramientas para el taller de serigrafía y fabricación con impresoras 3D.

Leandro Fabrizi – El cineasta independiente utilizará la beca para continuar la producción autogestionada de un documental acerca de las relaciones entre la comunidad de la Escuela Elemental Luis Rodríguez Cabrero, en el Residencial Luis Llorens Torres, frente al cierre y privatización de escuelas públicas en Puerto Rico.

Lionel Villahermosa – El artista plástico, bailador y gestor cultural utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos y profundizar en el desarrollo de un laboratorio de investigación del legado musical de Sylvia Rexach.

Marisol Plard – La artista visual utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales y médicos ante la pérdida de ingresos, así como adquirir equipo de trabajo.

Mary Anne Hopgood – La artista, activista, educadora y fundadora del Museo del Barrio de Santurce utilizará la beca para remplazar equipo de trabajo así como completar y publicar las memorias de la lucha comunitaria, cultural y social de la gente del Barrio San Mateo.

Maximiliano Rivas – El artista multidisciplinario utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales y reponer materiales a la vez que trabaja voluntariamente desarrollando talleres y presentaciones desde el centro cultural El Bastión y junto a la Asociación ACirc.

Melquíades Rosario – El artista visual y educador utilizará la beca para adquirir maquinaria, materiales y herramientas necesarias para la reconstrucción de su casa y taller en Vega Baja, y así poder retomar los talleres de arte y excursiones gratuitas para niños autistas y de corriente regular que lleva a cabo desde hace diez años.

Mickey Negrón – El artista y gestor de teatro y performance perdió su casa y pertenencias en La Perla, Viejo San Juan. Usará la beca para cubrir gastos personales, construir un piso de madera en su nueva casa/taller y comenzar la producción de su nuevo proyecto escénico y museográfico, El Deber del pan.

Migdalia Luz Barens – La artista, educadora y gestora del espacio independiente Diagonal  utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Néstor Barreto – El artista, escritor e investigador cultural utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos mientras completa una serie de trabajos en pintura y una investigación gráfica digital.

Néstor Otero – El artista multidisciplinario utilizará la beca para remplazar equipo y materiales de trabajo y cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Nicolás Linares – El productor e ingeniero de sonido, fundador del estudio de grabación de música independiente LittleBig Audio, utilizará la beca para reponer y reparar equipo dañado así como cubrir gastos operacionales y la pérdida de ingresos luego de que la falta de electricidad detuviera sus proyectos.

Noemi Segarra – La artista del cuerpo utilizará la beca para desarrollar el proyecto Piso Casa junto a Aneek Hernández, un espacio para el ofrecimiento de prácticas que integran técnicas de movimiento y autocuidado a través de eventos públicos y talleres.

Norma Vila – La artista y gestora cultural utilizará la beca para reconstruir su taller, reparar su vehículo, remplazar y adquirir materiales y equipo, así como cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de trabajo e ingresos.

Petra Bravo – La bailarina, coreógrafa y educadora utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos, vivienda, transporte y equipo de trabajo.

Ramón Berríos – El escultor y educador utilizará la beca para reemplazar las baterías del sistema solar con el que opera su espacio de taller en Hato Rey.

Rosaura Rodríguez – La ilustradora y educadora ha estado trabajando en una serie de acuarelas y narrativas autobiográficas desde la tormenta y usará la beca para completar e imprimir Temporada, un cómic a color acerca del paso de Maria experimentado desde su taller en Jayuya.

Roxanna Jordán – La ceramista utilizará la beca para reconstruir su taller en Loíza, remplazar y reparar equipo y materiales de trabajo, así como cubrir gastos y pérdidas personales de vivienda y transportación.

Sally Torres Vega – La diseñadora, que trabaja comúnmente en colaboración con artistas visuales y artesanos locales, utilizará la beca para reemplazar equipo que le permita retomar su trabajo en su taller en Cidra.

Taller Malaquita – El taller de las ocho artistas plásticas Coral del Mar Alemán, Rosenda Álvarez Faro, Yamileth Flores Reyes, Zuania Minier, Rosaly Mota, Andrea Pérez Caballero, Vero Rivera y Carolina Fernanda Serrano también ha estado funcionando como centro de acopio y espacio de trabajo para muchos otros artistas luego del huracán María. Utilizarán la beca para cubrir gastos operacionales que les permitan continuar en su espacio en Santurce, así como reponer y adquirir equipo y materiales.

Teresa Hernández – La artista escénica y educadora utilizará la beca para hacer reparaciones tras la inundación de su estudio, cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos y remplazar equipo de trabajo.

Yarimir Cabán – La cantautora utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos, reemplazar equipo perdido y alquilar un espacio de trabajo y ensayo temporero desde donde pueda continuar la producción de su tercer disco.

Y no había luz – El colectivo de artes escénicas utilizará la beca para hacer mejoras y reparaciones a su espacio de taller en Santurce, así como desarrollar un proyecto de residencia artística en Orocovis ofreciendo talleres gratuitos y funciones teatrales.

Renia Fermaint Rosa – La artista utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos de viaje y participar del festival de performance Kilómetro 0 en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.

Luis Pintado Escudero – El estudiante del Conservatorio de Música utilizará la beca para reponer instrumentos perdidos.

Plenitud Puerto Rico – El colectivo agroecológico de Las Marías utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos de producción de un festival de música gratuito para la comunidad.

Agua, Sol y Sereno – La compañía de teatro utilizará la beca para adquirir equipo de almacenamiento y protección de humedad y hongos para materiales, escenografía y vestuarios.

Karen Olivera – La actriz y titiritera utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Carlos Cana – El escritor de Cataño utilizará la beca para reemplazar equipo de trabajo perdido.

Gladys Rivera – La actriz de Rio Grande utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Pedro Ángel Rivera – El artista audiovisual utilizará la beca para producir una exhibición de fotografías del Barrio Hipódromo en Santurce antes y después del paso del huracán María que se presentará en el espacio cultural Casa Sofía y en la cancha de la Urbanización Hipódromo.

Enrique Olivares – El músico y escritor utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos de impresión de una publicación, junto a un grupo de colaboradores.

Joel Rodríguez – El artista sonoro y músico utilizará la beca para reemplazar su nevera.

Luis Maysonet – El artista plástico utilizará la beca para adquirir una motosierra y otros materiales que le permitan limpiar escombros y árboles caídos en su casa/taller en Aguas Buenas.

Vanessa Coaí Rodríguez – La artista, educadora y gestora cultural utilizará la beca para adquirir una cámara que le permita desarrollar un proyecto fotográfico junto a sus estudiantes en Cayey.

Yolanda Velázquez – La artista plástica utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos médicos y personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Esther Ñequi González Martínez – La bailarina utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales y de almacén ante la pérdida de ingresos y vivienda.

Omar Obdulio Peña Forti – El artista visual y barbero utilizará la beca para adquirir equipo portátil que le permita retomar su trabajo sin necesidad de electricidad.

Hiromi Shiba – La conservadora y educadora utilizará la beca para adquirir materiales para la limpieza y conservación de trabajos de José Rosa, luego de la destrucción de la casa/taller del artista.

Juan del Hierro – El bailarín y ebanista utilizará la beca para pagar el almacenaje de sus herramientas y maquinaria luego de que su casa y taller quedaran inutilizables, así como para construir mobiliario para el taller temporero desde donde está operando.

Julio César Morales – El artista plástico y teatrero utilizará la beca para comprar materiales de trabajo para su producción personal y para talleres que ofrece a damnificados del huracán.

Maria De Azúa – La bailarina y coreógrafa utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Hidrante – El espacio de arte independiente en Santurce utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos de renta.

Arialys Cruzado Ríos – La artista y educadora utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos.

Miguel Martínez Géigel – El artista utilizará la beca para reparar y remplazar equipo y materiales de trabajo.

Gloribel Delgado Esquilín – La escritora y educadora utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos de diseño e impresión de una publicación que documenta un taller de escritura y entrevistas en las comunidades de Alto del Cabro y Tras Talleres a partir del proyecto “El MAC en el Barrio” del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo.

Espicy Nipples – La cooperativa transfeminista productora de contenidos audiovisuales utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos de ilustración e impresión de una publicación transmediática que narra historias de las vidas LGBTTQI.

Nicole Delgado – La escritora, editora y fundadora de La Impresora utilizará la beca para viajar a República Dominicana a ser parte del encuentro de editoriales caribeñas emergentes Pop Up Art Book Fair organizado por Casa Quien y Ediciones de a Poco. 

Amanda Hernández – La escritora y co-directora de La Impresora utilizará la beca para viajar a República Dominicana a ser parte del encuentro de editoriales caribeñas emergentes Pop Up Art Book Fair organizado por Casa Quien y Ediciones de a Poco. 

Roberto A. Pérez – El dramaturgo utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de trabajo e ingresos.

Rebecca Montes – La artista utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos personales ante la pérdida de ingresos. 

Leila Mattina – La artista y agricultora utilizará la beca para adquirir una motosierra que le permita continuar con la limpieza de escombros y preparación de bancos de siembra en su finca Trama, proyecto agroecológico en Arroyo que busca reintroducir el procesamiento de fibras y tintes naturales en Puerto Rico utilizando un modelo cooperativista. 

Alexa Rivera – La pianista y compositora puertorriqueña utilizará la beca para terminar de producir su primer disco HiHeal.

Natasha Laracuente – La ilustradora y artista utilizará la beca para completar una serie de arte secuencial en papel y tinta china titulada “Chimera”. 

Las Atípicas – El grupo femenino de música típica puertorriqueña y ritmos caribeños utilizará la beca para cubrir gastos relacionados a su participación en el Festival del Caribe en Santiago de Cuba, dedicado a Puerto Rico en este año. 

Km 0.2 – El espacio de taller y exhibiciones coordinado por los artistas Roberto ‘Yiyo’ Tirado y Karlo Ibarra utilizará la beca para habilitar su nuevo espacio en Santurce luego de ser desplazados de su antiguo local por daños de filtración y cambios en la renta ante el paso del huracán.

Guarionex Morales Matos – The composer and arranger, founder of Orfeón San Juan Bautista, will use the grant to cover part of the production expenses of a queer chamber opera that proposes a rupture with the aesthetics and values of the Classic and Romantic historic-musical periods, in favor of a contemporary approach with gender perspective.

Héctor “Tito” Matos – The percussionist and promoter of bomba and plena will use the grant to repair and replace instruments and sound equipment, store undamaged equipment and continue offering free musical workshops through different parts of the island.

Ivelisse Jiménez – The visual artist and educator will use the grant to rebuild her workshop space in Cupey Bajo, as well as to replace lost equipment and materials.

Jean P Crespo – The performance artist, dancer and actor will use the grant to cover personal expenses while he begins to work with the inclusive dance company Axis in California, with the commitment of returning to Puerto Rico to share the knowledge he acquires.

Jeanne d’Arc Simone Casas – The dancer and choreographer will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income and make repairs to her home for damages caused by the storm.

Jerome Zayas – The cultural producer will use the grant to repair a vehicle that will transport materials for farming, collecting and purifying water, establishing a mobile kitchen and public interventions among agroecological initiatives in the historical center of San Juan, La Perla and Puerta de Tierra.

John Betancourt – The photographer will use the grant to cover personal and medical expenses due to loss of income.

José “Fofé” Abreu – The singer, composer and rock frontman will use the grant to replace and acquire work equipment, as well as make repairs to his home and replace furnishings and appliances.

Juan Antonio Arroyo – The musician, arranger and composer will use the grant to establish a portable recording studio that allows him to develop the project Nomadic Studio, in collaboration with a range of ethnomusicologists and artists.

Juan López Bauzá – The writer will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income while completing his fourth novel.

Kairiana Núñez – The actress and educator will use the grant to cover personal and medical expenses due to loss of income while continuing the research, development and production of various stage projects.

La Azotea – The theatre company directed by Alejandra Ramos Riera and Heriberto Feliciano Rodríguez will use the grant to replace work equipment as well as personal expenses due to loss of income.

Lazum – The multidisciplinary project established in Vieques by Rumi Humphrey and Lena Galíndez will use the grant to rebuild their workshop space, acquire equipment to expand their solar energy capabilities, a water cistern and tools for their screen printing and 3D fabrication workshop.

Leandro Fabrizi – The independent filmmaker will use the grant to continue the production of a documentary about the relationships between the community of the Luis Rodríguez Cabrero Elementary School, in the Luis Llorens Torres public housing complex, in the face of school closures and the privatisation of public education in Puerto Rico.

Lionel Villahermosa – The visual artist, dancer, and cultural producer will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income and to deepen the development of a research laboratory dedicated to the musical legacy of Sylvia Rexach.

Marisol Plard – The visual artist will use the grant to cover personal and medical expenses due to loss of income, as well as acquire work equipment.

Mary Anne Hopgood – The artist, activist, educator and founder of the Museo del Barrio de Santurce will use the grant to replace work equipment as well as complete and publish the memories of the cultural, social and community struggle of the people of the San Mateo neighborhood.

Maximiliano Rivas – The multidisciplinary artist will use the grant to cover personal expenses and replace materials while working voluntarily developing workshops and public presentations at the cultural center El Bastión and together with ACirc Association.

Melquíades Rosario – The visual artist and educator will use the grant to acquire equipment, materials, and tools needed for the reconstruction of his home and workshop space in Vega Baja, in order to resume the free arts workshops and field trips that he’s been coordinating for autistic and regular current children for the past ten years.

Mickey Negrón – The performance artist and producer will use the grant to cover personal expenses after losing his home and belongings in La Perla, Old San Juan, as well as to build a wooden floor in his new home/studio space while starting production on his new project, The Duty of Bread.

Migdalia Luz Barens – The artist, educator and coordinator of independent art space Diagonal, will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income.

Néstor Barreto – The artist, writer and cultural researcher will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income while completing a series of paintings and a digital graphic investigation.

Néstor Otero – The multidisciplinary artist will use the grant to replace equipment and work materials, and cover personal expenses due to loss of income.

Nicolás Linares – The music producer and sound engineer, founder of the independent music recording studio LittleBig Audio, will use the grant to replace and repair damaged equipment, as well as to cover operational expenses due to loss of income.

Noemi Segarra – The movement artist will use the grant to develop the project Piso Casa with Aneek Hernández, a space that will offer practices that integrate movement techniques and self-care through public events and workshops.

Norma Vila – The artist and cultural producer will use the grant to rebuild her workshop space, repair her vehicle, replace and acquire materials and equipment, as well as covering personal expenses due to loss of work and income.

Petra Bravo – The dancer, choreographer and educator will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income, housing, transportation and work equipment.

Ramón Berríos – The sculptor and educator will use the grant to replace the batteries of the solar array that powers his workshop space in Hato Rey.

Rosaura Rodríguez – The illustrator and educator has been working on a series of watercolors and autobiographical narratives since the storm and will use the grant to finish and print Temporada, a color comic about the passing of Maria, as experimented from her workshop space in Jayuya.

Roxanna Jordán – The ceramist will use the grant to rebuild her workshop space in Loiza, replace and repair work equipment and materials, as well as cover personal expenses and losses related to housing and transportation.

Sally Torres Vega – The designer, who commonly works in collaboration with visual artists and local artisans, will use the grant to replace equipment that will allow her to resume working in her workshop space in Cidra.

Taller Malaquita – The workshop space administered by the eight visual artists Coral del Mar Alemán, Rosenda Álvarez Faro, Yamileth Flores Reyes, Zuania Minier, Rosaly Mota, Andrea Pérez Caballero, Vero Rivera and Carolina Fernanda Serrano has also been operating as a drop off site for donations and shared working space for many other artists since hurricane Maria. They will use the grant to cover operational costs that allow them to remain in their space in Santurce, as well as to replace and acquire equipment and materials.

Teresa Hernández – The performer and educator will use the grant to make repairs to her studio due to flood damage, cover personal expenses due to loss of income and replace working equipment.

Yarimir Cabán – The songwriter will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income, replace lost equipment and rent a temporary space to work and rehearse from which she can continue the production of her third record.

Y no había luz – The performing arts collective will use the grant to make improvements and repairs to their workshop space in Santurce, as well as developing an artistic residency project in Orocovis, offering free workshops and theater presentations.

Carlos Cana – The writer from Cataño will use the grant to replace lost equipment and resume his work.

Gladys Rivera – The actress from Rio Grande will use the grant to cover personal expenses due to loss of income.

Pedro Ángel Rivera – The audiovisual artist will use the grant to produce a photography exhibition of the Hipódromo neighbourhood of Santurce before and after the passing of hurricane María that will be presented in the cultural space Casa Sofía and in the basketball court of the Hipódromo community.

Enrique Olivares – The musician and writer will use the grant to cover printing expenses for a publication produced with a group of collaborators.

Joel Rodríguez – The sound artist and musician will use the grant to replace his refrigerator.

Luis Maysonet – The visual artist will use the grant to acquire a chainsaw and other materials needed to remove fallen trees and rubble from his home and workshop space in Aguas Buenas.

Vanessa Coaí Rodríguez – The artist, educator and cultural producer will use the grant to acquire a camera that will allow her to develop a photography project with her students in Cayey.

Yolanda Velázquez – The visual artist will use the grant to cover medical and other personal expenses due to loss of income.

Esther Ñequi González Martínez – The dancer will use the grant to cover personal expenses and storage space after the loss of income and housing.

Omar Obdulio Peña Forti – The visual artist and barber will use the grant to acquire portable equipment that allows him to resume working without the need for electricity.

Hiromi Shiba – The conservationist and educator will use the grant to acquire materials for cleaning and storing the works of José Rosa, after the destruction of the home and workshop of this artist.

Juan del Hierro – The dancer and woodworker will use the grant to pay for storage of his tools and equipment after his home and workshop space was left unusable, as well as to build furniture for the temporary workshop space that he’s currently operating from.

Espicy Nipples – The transfeminist cooperative which produces audiovisual contents will use the grant to cover illustration and printing expenses related to to a transmedia publication that narrates stories of LGBTTQI people.

Nicole Delgado – The writer, editor and founder of La Impresora will use the grant to travel to the Dominican Republic to participate in a gathering of emerging Caribbean publishers titled Pop Up Art Book Fair, organised by Casa Quien and Ediciones de a Poco.

Leila Mattina – The artist and farmer will use the grant to acquire a chainsaw that allows her to continue cleaning debris and preparing seed banks in her farm Trama, an agroecological project in Arroyo that seeks to reintroduce the processing of natural fibres and dyes in Puerto Rico using a cooperative model.

Alexa Rivera – The pianist and composer will use the grant to finish producing her first record  HiHeal.

Natasha Laracuente – The illustrator and artist will use the grant to complete a series of sequential art with Chinese ink on paper titled “Chimera”. 

Las Atípicas – The all-female group that plays traditional Puerto Rican music and other Caribbean rhythms will use the grant to cover expenses related to their participation in the Festival del Caribe in Santiago, Cuba, dedicated to Puerto Rico this year. 

Km 0.2 – The workshop and exhibition space coordinated by artists Roberto ‘Yiyo’ Tirado and Karlo Ibarra will use the grant to condition their new space in Santurce after being displaced from their previous locale by water damage and a rent raise related to the hurricane.
